This annual walk of just over 18 miles which 'beats' the boundary of the parish is an ancient custom, is said to date back 400 years, to a time before detailed maps were available. So the original purpose was to share knowledge of the parish lands and boundaries. It took place on Ascension Day or during Rogation Week in early May. The Aldbourne boundary walk was rediscovered in the mid sixties by Commander Davies, Dr. Trevor Tiplady and Anthony Brown. They traced the old boundary stones and after about three years established the route. The Commander then asked others to join him on this annual walk and so re-established the Aldbourne Beating the Bounds. This continued until 1983 when the Parish Council were asked to take over the organisation of the walk. A small committee was therefore set up to ensure the walk was continued. Donald Barnes and Brian Buckler have arranged the walk for 30 years - and Donald has led the walk throughout. This was the last walk to be arranged and led by this team. More than 50 people of all ages set out at 8am on Monday May 2nd, 2011, many others joined the walk after lunch and everyone arrived back at the war memorial on The Green at around 4.30. Welcome to the Global Glitch City Tour! :D PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE OR DURING THE VIDEO TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHY I DID SOME OF THESE THINGS. So. Glitch City is massive. I turned on the GS 'Float' cheat so I would not get randomly stuck (You can't go far without this cheat) and I could officially explore all of it, including the compass boundaries. For time reasons, East and West boundaries were not really shown. Let's put it this way: At the end of the video I was close enough to the East. East/West boundaries are the routes beside Fuschia, and crashes once you get too far. All four boundaries crash if you get too far. ....Waitaminute, DID I JUST SIDE-MOONWALK OUT OF A BUILDING? (See near beginning) North Boundary: LARGE GYMS. If I went any further you'd just see a few repeats before it crashed. But seriously. LARGE GYMS. I wish they made a really long gym. Like the Canalave one in D/P. :D South Boundary: ...WTF? Square islands? IS THIS A SIGN? No seriously, I was surprised. Unfortunately I did not spot the portion I spotted the first time I came down. Seriously, it was like Square Island Paradise or somethin'. Overall, this is to cure those little kids who just wanna see what Glitch City looks like. I'm not bashing anyone, and I made this video because I wanted to, and I wanted to show everyone Glitch City. Please enjoy it. I enjoyed making it (yeah, VBA compression rules!)
