Endless Song of Silence Choreography Nanine Linning Endless Song of Silence Linning will start touring with a new full-evening program as of January 2010. Her new program is based on her original, breathtaking 20 minutes long version of Endless Song of Silence which she created for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam in 2005. Endless Song of Silence which premiered in the main auditorium of the Rotterdamse Schouwburg (Rotterdam Theater) turned the spotlight on a relationship between two people who straddle the thin line of breaking up, showing the last stages of a relationship full of sorrow, anger, hope and seeking comfort. They cant live with nor without each other, the audience witnesses the emotional experience of saying goodbye; like splitting up a Siamese twin. Linning splendidly gave shape to this theme using a theatrical invention: the dancers move around on a long conveyor belt running between two voile curtains showing video images. This creates a magical cinematographic scenery, moving from video to reality in a very sudden way. The music used for Endless Song of Silence is the entire Symphony # 3 from the Polish composer H. Górecki. Linning: I hear in this music the last minutes and seconds of life, the notion of time slipping away, everything slows down to the very final chord followed by a silence which seems to last forever, hence the title.
